Propaganda Leaflets:
O/a 15 0600 Sep 50, PW saw US C-47 drop leaflets at YANGMOK (若木) at very low altitude. PW picked one up and read it. At first he did not believe it but kept it because he had intention of surrendering at the first opportunity. PW’s unit was permitted to read the leaflets to investigate what was written as propaganda.

Psychological Factors;
According to PW 30% of the personnel possess a spontaneous willl to fight and 70% are ready to surrender at any time.
NK soldiers are mostly afraid of aircraft. The troops have been talking about the A-bomb and expecting to hear that the A-bomb had been dropped.
PW thinks that RUSSIA will not intervene in the Korean War because to do so will precipitate World War III.
70% of NK soldiers would surrender now if allowed to do so. Gradually the NK soldiers are gaining confidence in "Safe Conduct Passes”.
PW’s unit had sufficient food up to 21 Sep 50. Medical treatment was inadequate.
Constant bombing and strafing attacks by US aircraft causes the morale of the troops to decline.
