FIELD REPORT (164 - MISDI - 0950)　24 September 1950

Uncooperative. PW has a belligerent attitude, pretonds ignorance despite the fact that he had started the 1st yr at CHONGCHI University, and claims to be an innocent victim of the Korean War. Recommend interrogation by CIC. PW claims that he did not become a member of the NKPA as ge did not choose to join. He insists that the only South Korean personnel in the NKPA are persons who freely volunteer to join. PW further alleges that he was not molested by the NKPA while traveling from SEOUL to place of capture and that anyone may go wherever he desires without fear of arrest by the NKPA.

PW wnet to SEOUL from KYONGJU on 10 Jun 50 for the purpose of studying political science at CHONGCHI University. However, he alleges that he left SEOUL with 10 other civilians on 25 Jul 50 to return to KYONGJU because of a food shortage at SEOUL.

Departed SEOUL 25 Jul 50 and marched to KUMCHON.

While proceeding from KUMCHON on 20 Sep 50, PW stopped as he heard artillery fire in the hills several km to the south of a valley through which he and 10 others were walking. While waiting for the firing to subside, PW and the 10 others civilians were captured by U.S. soldiers at 221200 K Sep 50.
