11 May 49: Inducted into the 586th AA Unit (commonly referred to as Independent Regt in that it was the only AA unit in NK) at PYONGCH’ON-N (平川里) (P’YONGYANG City). Training covered political education, dismounted drill, military courtesy, physical training, practice on the range.
Feb 50: The unit, excluding 50 who were attached to the Supply plt including PW, began realistic training in the nearby hills. The Supply platoon was assigned housekeeping details. This continued until just prior to the outbreak of war.

25 Jun 50: Because the PW’ unit was the Supply plt, it was far to the rear of the main body of the 1st Bn. Did not know the number of times the 1st Bn engaged the enemy. Occasionally, PW went to the front as ammo bearer. The unit passed through the following towns: SEOUL, SUWON (水原), P’YONGTAEK (平澤), CH’ONAN, TAEJON, YONGDONG, KUMCH’ON and YAKMOK (若木).
10 Sep 50: The Supply plt still far behind the Bn, which was at HYOPCH’ON (陜川) arrived at YAKMOK.
21 Sep 50: The 10 members of the platoon made a ration run to the 1st Bn sector (HYOPCH’ON). Enroute they met a battery commander who related an order for the entire platoon to join the Bn.
