2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was very cooperative and gave information freely. Information believed to ve fairly reliable.
Length of Service - 45 days
Physical Condition - Wounded on leg, codition fair.

3. MILITARY HISTORY:
PW was forcible inducted into the service on 14 Aug 50 at CHONG PYONG (定平) and received basic training for two days. Then attached to the 563rd Unit, 2nd Bn, 4th Co, 1st Plt.
The 563rd Unit consisted of three battalions, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
There were two infantry companies, one HMG Co and one Artillery Co in the 2nd Bn.

4. STRENGTH & ARMAMENT:
The 1st Bn consisted of 200 men who were armed with the following:
About 5 MAXIM HMG with 2,000 rds of ammo each.
About 10 DP LMG with about 250 rds of ammo each.
About 20 PPsh Sub-Machine Guns with 250 rds each.
About 150 MOSSIN Rifles with about 100 rds of ammo each.
The 2nd Bn consisted of 600 men and were divided into four companies (150 men to a Co). They were armed with the following weapons;
450 MOSSIN Rifles with 100rds each.
150 PPsh Sub-Machine Guns with 210rds each.
About 10 MAXIN HMG with 2,000rds each.
30 DP LMG with 250rds each.
2 pistols carried by the Bn CO and Co CO.

5. MILITARY MOVEMENT:
563rd Unit departed CHONG PYONG by train 16 Aug 50, arrived SEOUL 21 Sep 50.

6. CIRCUMSTANCE OF CAPTURE:
PW deserted his unit on the early morning (0400) of 24 Sep 50 and gave himself up to the 1st Marine Div. While deserting from his unit he was shot in the left leg by NK troops.
