2. ASSESSMENT:
PW talked freely, but was not observant. He was illiterate and had a very poor memory. His information is doubtful.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
10 Mar 49 - PW was inducted at KUMCH'ON (金川), N KOREA. PW received 1 year military training at CHINNAMP'O (鎭南浦). Military training consisted of military courtesy, close order drill, squad tactics, operation of M1891/30 rifle and IMG. PW fired 15 rounds with the M1891/30 rifle.
1 Mar 50 - Approximately 70 men including PW were promoted to Sgt's. These 70 men departed for SINUIJU (新義州) by train.
12 Mar 50 - The 70 men reached SINUIJU. PW was assigned to the 2nd Sod, 3rd Plt, 9th Co 3rd Bn 23rd Regt 13th Div. PW was designated as the squad leader of the 2nd Squad. PW trained recruits until 7 Jun 50.
7 Jun 50 - The 13th Div (19th, 21st, and 23rd Regts) departed SINUIJU by train.
9 Jun 50 - The 13th Div reached KUMCH'ON (金川).
o/a 3 Jul 50 - The 13th Div entered Seoul. The 13th Div stayed in SEOUL for 3 days.
o/a 20 Aug 50 - The 21st Regt and the 23rd Regt reached YUHAKU SAN (遊鶴山) (1146-1463). The remained at YUHAK-SAN until o/a 12 Sep 50.
o/a 16 Sep 50 - The 21st Regt and the 23rd Regt advanced to TABU-DONG. Here they encountered US troops, and retreated to the north.
PW deserted from his unit.
20 Sep 50 - PW surrendered to the US troops at a small village (1148.7-1452.7).

Last Known Composition of Unit: (as of 16 Sep 50):
23rd Regt:
PW estimated that approximately 250 men remained in the 23rd Regt. Each man had approximately 100 rounds of ammunition. PW saw 1 × 120-mm Howitzer, 2 × 82-mm Mortars and 2 × 45-mm AT Guns in the 23rd Regt.

Supplies:
The ammunition was hauled by trucks during the night. Troops received food from the farmers.

Vehicles:
There were 1 jeep (make unknown) and 2 motorcycles in the 23rd Regt as of 16 Sep 50. PW believes that all the trucks in the 23rd Regt were destroyed by UN aircraft.

Intentions:
PW heard from his Bn CO that the objective of the 13th Div was TAEGU.

Morale and Propaganda:
Morale of the troops was very low due to heavy casualties. PW had not seen any propaganda leaflet.

4. GENERAL:
NK Currency Information: One NK WON was worth 10 SK WON.
Red Cross Insignia: PW saw Red Cross Insignia on N Korean hospital buildings.
