2. ASSESSMENT:
University graduate.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
On 5 August 1950, the PW entered the North Korean Security Guard Unit (KYONG DI DAE) at SEOUL, KOREA. He was assigned to the 27th Battalion, 107th Regiment. The Commanding Officer of the 107th Regiment gave an order for his unit to depart from SEOUL on 9 August 1950 and this Regiment went to various towns and villages south of the 38th Parallel. The reason was unknown.
On or about 7 or 8 September 1950, the PW was in the vicinity of (356-294). Only about half of the 27th Battalion went to the sea coast for border guard duty. The other half of the Battalion with the remainder of the 107th Regiment remained in the KIMPO area. After staying at the sea coast for two (2) days, the PW want to KIMPO with his unit and the 27th Battalion crossed the HAN River (location unknown) and reached NAM-NI on tbe Eastern side.
On 19 September 1950, the 27th Battalion consolidated with the 32nd Battalion and was called the 32nd Battalion. The 32nd Battalion then proceeded to SONG-PO on 20 September 1950 at about 2300 hours and from SONG-PO, proceeded to KIMPO at 2400 hours. There were about 600 men in the 32nd Battalion that were also heading in the direction of KIMPO. The Battalion got as far as 1.5 kilometers North of KIMPO and reached thore about 0530 hours.
At that time, US airplanes started bombing the 32nd Battalion, the PW with another NK troop ran away in the direction of KIMPO and was taken prisoner about 1000 hours, 21 September 1950.

b. Unit Organization and Strength:
Original organization and strength:
Former 27th Battalion: 600 men
Present 32nd Battalion: 600 men
The PW does not know what happened to the other 600 men who were not assigned to the 32nd Battalion.

c. Equipment:
The following are same of the weapons that the 32nd Battalion had on hand it proceeded from NAM-NI in the direction of KIMPO:

Besides the above number, approximately 200 men were assigned to be ammunition bearers.

d. Unit Duties:
Guard Battalion

e. Communications:
The PW stated that there was no type of communication facilities in the 32nd Battalion.

f. Intentions:
The intentions of the 32nd Battalion was to retake KIMPO air field and hold it.

g. Morale and Propaganda:
Morale low. There were many rumors that the North Koreans had won the war already. There were many propaganda leaflets on how good the North Korean government was.
