ATIS INTERROGATION REPORT NO. 1328　26 September 1950

FIELD REPORT (521 - MISD - 0034)　23 September 1950

The subject was intelligent and talked freely. The information herein seems reliable.

Subject was conscripted into 107th Constabulary Regt, 27th Bn, 2nd Co, 2nd Plat at SEOUL on the 5th of Aug 50. The 27th Bn was organized at the time subject was conscripted. Majority of the men did not receive any military training.

There were 27th Bn, 31st Bn and 32nd Bn attached to the 107 Const Regt. Each Bn had one mortar company, one H/M company and anti-tank company.

On or about 7 Sep 50 his unit, 2nd, 3rd, 4th Plat of the 2nd Co of the 27th Bn were at CHI WHA RI and were ordered to dig trenches. During this period the subject heard a rumor that the 1st Co of the 27th Bn or the 31st Bn made landing at the island called TAEBU-DO located across from CHI WHA RI village. The trenches were dug on top of 4 mountains located at CHI WHA RI village. Subject believes that the 31st Bn is deployed at the above-mentioned village at present. However, the last observation of 31st Bn was made by the subject at NAM YANG on or about 4 Sep 50.

Subject deserted this platoon on 18 Sep 50 at ORYU DONG while enroute to KIMPO. He believes that the 27th Bn of 107 Const Regt has been annihilated due to the story he heard from other PWs that the commanding officers of the 2nd and 3rd Co's had been captured.

Subject stated that there were only 50% of weapon issued to the 27th Bn, at the time of organization remaining (at SEOUL). However, at NAM YANG new weapons were issued to entire Bn. There were some rifles with Chinese marking.
