2. ASSESSMENT:
PW of average intelligence, very cooperative. Further interrogation is not recommended.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
28 Aug 49 - Entered No 3 HOERYONG OCS. Graduates of No 1 and No 2 HOERYONG OCS received commission but No 3 HOERYONG OCS graduates did not receive commission. During 10 month training period, 28 Aug 49 to 18 Jun 50, approx 2,700 men were trained. Training consisted of combat training, guerrilla warfare, and rifle marksmanship.
PW was assigned to an Independent Inf Regt (Code No 766), 2nd Bn, 7th Co, 1st Plt, 2nd Sqd. 2nd Bn consisted of 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th Cos, Each Co had approx 150 men.
19 Jun 50 - The Ind Inf Regt was designated Special Regt (2,700 men) departed HOERYONG by train arrived YANGYANG (襄陽) 25 Jun 50.
25 Jun 50 - Special Regt was loaded on 20 boats and departed harbor, arrived KANGNUNG (江陵) 26 Jun 50.
27 Jun 50 - Departed KANGNUNG - marched - arrived SAMCH'OK (三陟) - 1 Jul 50.
2 Jul 50 - Departed SAMCH'OK - marched - arrived ULCHIN (蔚珍) 5 Jul 50.
6 Jul 50 - Departed ULCHIN - marched - arrived ANDONG (安東) 16 Jul 50. 80 sick men were left in ANDONG by the Regt. These 80 were mostly malaria cases.
19 Jul 50 - Approx 2620 men departed ANDONG. PW was not able to walk so went to hospital with 80 men. PW heard that the Regt went to YONGDOK (盈德).
7 Sep 50 - 80 men received orders to report OKSAN - Ni (1210-1450). Departed ANDONG - marched - arrived OKSAN-Ni (玉山里) 13 Sep 50. 7th Div Hq was located 200 m W of the village dug in on a side of the mountain and camouflaged with branches.
14 Sep 50 - 11 were assigned to 2nd Plt, rest of 70 men, unknown.
14 Sep 50 - 2nd Plt (11 men) departed OKSAN-Ni marched - arrived AN'GANG-Ni (安康里) 15 Sep 50. Separated from 2nd Plt and captured 1700 15 Sep 50.

Weapons and Personnel:
Ind Inf Regt - 2,700 men; 2nd Bn - 900 men; 7th Co - 150 men; 1st Plt - 50 men; 2nd Sqd - 11 men.
Rifleman armed with Jap Model 38 and 99 rifles, 100 rounds 2 grenades. Asst Sqd ldr, DP LMG, 2 magazines. Sqd Ldr, SMG’s 200 rounds. Officers, pistols.
7th Co - 12 x LMG; 2nd Bn - 8 x HMG; 8 x 60-mm Mortars, 8 x 82-mm Mortars 19 Jun 50 at HOERYONG.

Supplies:
Received average of 1 rice ball a day. Received rice from farmers. Ammunition last received HOERYONG 19 Jul 50.

Intention:
Objective of 7th Div - KYONGJU (慶州).

Morale and Propaganda:
Morale was low due to lack of replacements and food.
PW read leaflets at ANDONG on 2 Sep 50 and believed them true and wished to surrender. Aircraft bombardment and strafing attacks, artillery shelling were feared most by the NKPA troops.
