ASSESSMENT:
On 17 Sep 50, PW disobeyed the Bn C.O. and was confined to the Bn area. At 1400 he ran away and gave himself up to the American 38th Inf Regt.
PW was cooperative but info on Inf unjts was limited.
Recommend further interrogation on Arty EEI.

Inf Regts composed of 3 Inf Bns, Hq Co, Transportation Co, & Medical Co. Others unknown.
The following Arty Plts and Cos were either one of two types, wholly a 76mm Gun Unit or wholly a 122mm Howitzer Unit.

Equipment: PW saw the following weapons & equipment while at HAMHUNG between Dec 49 to May 50, DP LMG, SMG, Carbines, M-1891/30 rifles, HMG, 82 mm & 120 mm mortars, 14.5 AT rifle, 55 mm AT Guns, 12.7 mm AA Guns, T-34/85, SU 76, ZIS-5 and 151 trucks, GAZ-67 Jeep, A-3 PNEUMATIC FLOAT and TAM Field Telephones.
As of 17 Sep 50 PW did not see any tanks, SU 76 or heavy Artillery except the ones he saw in the Artillery Regiment.

LOCATION & ACTIVITIES OF UNITS: (As of 17 Sep 50)
1. Arty Regt, 2nd Division located at PUGONG NI
2. 2nd Division Headquarters located 12 km west of CHANGNYONG
3. 3 Infantry Regiments of 2nd Division located 8 Km to North, West and South of CHANGYONG respectively.
4. PW heard that the 7th and 4th Divisions were SE of the Arty Regiment while the 9th Division was located in the direction of CHINJU from the Arty Regiment.
5. 2nd Division objective was CHANGNYONG.

PERSONAL & UNIT HISTORY:
Inducted 5 Dec 49 at HAMHUNG.
Received no basic training.
PW was commissioned because he was a good Korean football player. He was the best 100 meter runner in the 2nd Division.
Departed HAMHUNG 13 Jun 50, arrived PUGONG NI 3 Sep 50.

FOOD & AMMO SUPPLIES:
PW stated that while he was at PUGONG-NI from 3 Sep to 16 Sep, he took 6 trucks daily to SINBAN-NI to get ammo for 76mm & 122mm guns. One truck was loaded with 200 rounds for 76mm guns & 80 rounds for 122mm guns.
PW stated that this Ammo was brought in from HYOPCHON to SINBAN-NI via truck.
Food was also brought in from SINBAN-NI.

MORALE:
PW stated the morale in his Ammo Plt was low because most of them were disgusted with this war, including PW who was the Plt Ldr.
