1. Original organization and strength: PW believes that the 10th Regt was composed of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Bns, 65th Guard Co, 82mm Mortar Co, AA MG Plt, 45mm Artillery Plt and a Medical Plt. He heard that the strength was 2,500 men.
2. Actual battle organization and strength: The original organization was not changed for actual battle purpose.
3. Last known composition of unit: The 10th Regt was scattered at the battle near P’OHANG-DONG and the PW believes they were either wiped out or surrounded and captured.

Equipment:
PW observed the following arms within the 10th Regt upon departure from NANAM. 9 x 45mm field artillery, 9 x 82mm mortars, 5 x AA MGs. At the battle of P’OHANG-DONG, PW observed 3 x 45mm field artillery, 5 x 82mm mortars and 2 x AA MGs. All troops were equipped with rifles and 2 hand grenades each.

Unit History:
The 10th Regt of the 5th Div was organized Jul 49 at NANAM.

Dispositions:
The last known position of the Regt CP was on a low bare mountain in TALCHON but the CP was moved across the river toward P’OHANG-DONG. PW believes that it was probably wiped out.

Communications:
Roads: They were damaged in many places by constant bombing and it was impossible for vehicles to traverse without maintenance.
Bridges: PW observed many damaged bridges which greatly impeded the advance of the troops.

Intentions:
The objective of the 10th Regt was to capture the P’OHANG airfield.

Personalities:
1. Own unit:
10th Regt CO: Col PAK Chong Dok (朴正德) (박정덕).
65th Guard Co CO of the 10th Regt, 5th Div was Sr Lt Kim Kun Hyon (金根鉉) (김근현)

Morale & Propaganda:
The morale of the troops was very low because of the repeated encounters with the enemy and sustaining heavy casualties. Loss of weapons, and not being able to receive an adequate supply of ammunition and food was another big factor in the lowering of morale. PW read US propaganda leaflets twice at P’OHANG-DONG and he changed his mind about not surrendering to the ROK forces. He started to doubt the words of his superiors who stated that the NKPA members will be killed if captured by the ROK forces.

4. GENERAL:
Many troops contracted malaria in the mountains and the medical unit gave 2 to 3 small yellow pills to the sick patients only. No further information.
