1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was very cooperative; information seems reliable.

3. T/O & E OF UNIT:
73rd Regt composed of four (4) Bns:
1st Battalion - 550 men
2nd Battalion - 550 men
3rd Battalion - 550 men
Artillery Bn
Three (3) GAZ-51 trucks.
1st Battalion composed of three (3) rifle companies; each company had 150 men, armed with 12 LMG's, 12 PPSH SMG's. Mortar Company - 50 men, armed with six (6) 82mm mortars. HMG Company - 50 men, armed with six (6) Maxim HMG’s.
2nd Company composed of three (3) rifle platoons, (1st, 2nd and 3rd). Each platoon had 50 men, armed with four (4) LMG’s and four (4) PPSH SMG’s.
3rd Platoon composed of four (4) rifle sqds (lst, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th). Each sqd had 12 men. Riflemen armed with 1891/30 rifles, 100 rounds, 2 grenades. Ass’t sqd ldrs armed with LMG with two (2) magazines. Sqd ldrs armed with PPSH SMG's with two (2) magazines. Officers armed with u/i pistols.

4. DISPOSITION OF ABOVE UNITS:
73rd Inf Regt Hq was situated at CHACHONG-DONG, 4 km NE of YONGCHON.

5. ESTIMATED STRENGTH OF ABOVE UNITS:
73rd Inf Regt: 600 men
1st Battalion: 180 men
2nd Battalion: 180 men
3rd Battalion: 180 men
Artillery Bn : Unknown

6. PERSONALITIES:
2nd Company Co - Lt CHONG ? (長 ?), age 23

7. ARMOR:
Two (2) T/34/85 tanks observed on 1 Sep at TWEJAN DONG.
One (1) T/34/85 tank (undergoing repairs) observed at ANDONG d/u Aug 50.

8. ARTILLERY:
Four (4) truck-drawn u/i artillery pieces d/u Aug at 4 km SE of ANDONG.

9. PERSONAL & UNIT HISTORY:
Inducted on 6 Jul 50 at NAMSINUIJU into 73rd Inf Regt, 1st Bn, 2nd Co, 3rd Plt, 4th Sqd. Received basic training until 2 Aug. Rifles, 100 rounds, issued on 3 Aug. On the same day, the 1st and 2nd left NAMSINUIJU, by railroad. Passed through PYONGYANG, SARIWON, & SEOUL to WONJU. Departed WONJU d/u Aug, marched, arrived TANYANG d/u Aug, stayed overnight. Departed TANYANG d/u Aug, marched, arrived ANDONG d/u Aug, stayed overnight. Departed ANDONG d/u, marched, arrived CHONGSONG, d/u Aug. Rested two days. Departed CHONGSONG d/u Aug, marched, arrived TAEJON DONG d/u Aug. There the 1st Bn joined the 2nd and 3rd Battalions. 3rd Bn advanced toward YONGCHON on 1 Sep. The three (3) Bns engaged in heavy battle four (4) times before they approached to 4 km NE of YONGCHON.
While PW and his plt ldr were on their way to the Regt Hqs, they were captured by ROK on 10 Sep 50 at 4 km NE of YONGCHON.

10. FOOD & AMMO SUPPLIES:
Food delivered from rear units by a truck unit.
Received food from farmers.
PW was fed one rice ball a day.
Ammunition carried by individual and South Korean villagers who were forced to work for the Peoples Army.
40 rounds of rifle ammunition last received at TAEJON DONG on l Sep 50. Ammunition average of 40 rounds left per man as of 10 Sep.

11. ENEMY INTENTIONS:
Objective of 73rd Regt was TAEGU via YIONGHON.

12. MORALE:
Morale of troops was low, because of no replacements in men or equipment.

13. SOUTH KOREA SENTIMENTS:
South Korean people did not welcome the North Korean army, because they did not like the idea of race suicide.
