1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

Informant seems to be withholding information.

4. DISPOSITION OF UNIT:
The 1st Battalion of the 50th Regiment on 8 Sept 50, was located on a hilltop 12 Km north of YONGCHON.
The 2nd Battalion was on the right flank of 1st Battalion and the 3rd Battalion was on the left flank.
The 45th Regiment was in a reserve position of the 50th Regiment and was located about 2 Km in the rear.
The self-propelled guns supporting the 50th Regiment were last seen in the reserve position.
The informant believes that the 45th Regiment was moved up with the 50th Regiment the day he was taken prisoner.
The Division Headquarters on 8 Sep 50, was moving up to a point 10 Km north of YONGCHON.

7. PERSONAL & UNIT HISTORY:
Inducted 18 Apr 50, with 100 others at HOERYONG and placed in the 50th Regt, 15th Division. Between Apr 50 to 20 Jun 50, the informant trained as a part of an AT Gun crew.
On 22 Jun 50, the 15th Division and its elements moved by rail to KUMHWA. From KUMHWA the elements of the 15th Division marched by night and fought their way through CHUNCHUN, HONGCHON, HWACHON, UMSONG, YOJU, KUMCHON, UISONG, and arrived 12 Km north of YONGCHON on 5 Sep 50.
On 7 Sep 50, the informant’s Company was bombed and strafed by US aircraft. During the air raid the informant deserted his unit.
He was taken prisoner on the following day while hiding in a deserted farm house. The informant was not armed at time of capture.

8. ARTILLERY:
On 8 Sep 50, the 76mm gun company of the 45th Regiment was located 10 Km north of YONGCHON.

9. FOOD AND AMMO SUPPLIES:
The informant is company received trash ammo on three occasions since leaving North KOREA on 22 Jun 50 (15 rounds per issue).

10. ENEMY INTENTIONS:
The troops will fight to the last man.
The informant heard that the CCF and Russians will aid the North Koreans.

11. MORALE:
Morale is highest when the unit advances.
The troops, especially the newly arrived, have very low morale.
Only the squad leaders and officers display spirit.
