1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was cooperative however, information seems limited due to lack of service.

3. T/O & E OF PW'S UNIT:
a. 3rd Bn composed of the following:
1. 3 rifle companies: 7th Co, 8th Co, and 9th Co. The 7th Co had 120 men, 12 LMG’s 12 PPsh SMG’s; 3rd Plt, 30 men, armed with 4 LMG’s and 4 PPsh SMG’s. 2nd Sqd, 7-8 men, one (1) LMG with 2 magazines, one (1) PPsh SMG.
Rifleman armed with M1899/30 rifles, 70 rounds each.
Sqd Ldrs, armed with PPsh SMGs, 2 grenades.
Ass’t Sqd Ldrs, armed with LMGs, 2 grenades.
Officers, armed with pistols.
2. One Hmg Co, 60 men, armed with five (5) MAXIM HMGs, 750 rounds per gun.
3. One Mortar Co, 50 men, armed with six (6) 122mm M1941.
4. One (1) Anti-Tank Rifle Co, 30 men six (6) l4.5mm PTRS-41.

4. PERSONAL AND UNIT HISTORY:
Inducted on 3 July 50, at HAEJU into 7th Div, 3rd Regt, 3rd Bn, 7th Co, 3rd Plt, 2nd Sqd.
Trained as rifleman with wooden rifles until 25 Jul at HAEJU. PW and 600 men who received training with him, issued M1899/30 rifles, 70 rounds per man on 28 July and departed HAEJU by railroad. During the day the train was stopped in tunnels.
PW and unit left train 8 km NW of SEOUL RR Station, D/u Aug. They marched through SEOUL and across the HAN Bridge, which had been repaired with wood, and which nevertheless, supported vehicles of truck weight. Arrived SUWON (水原) d/u Aug.
Departed SUWON d/u Aug - marched - arrived TAEJON d/u Aug and rested overnight. Departed TAEJON d/u Aug marched arrived CHINJU (晉州) on 14 Aug. Departed CHINJU 16 Aug - marched - arrived SAMCHONPO (三千浦) on 18 Aug. Departed SAMCHONPO on 20 Aug - marched through mountains - arrived HAMAN (咸安) on 2 Sep 50. Departed HAMAN on 3 Sep.
While advancing eastward, PW and 3 Sqd men deserted from the unit 5 Sep 50. PW claims that he was afraid to fight after he heard the sound of firing. After spending 3 days in the mountains, they were captured by US forces.

5. ARMOR:
One (1) T-34/S5 tank observed two km South of TAEJON (大田) d/u Aug.

6. ARTILLERY:
Three (3) truck-drawn 57mm M1943 AT guns seen at CHINJU (晉州) on 14 Aug.

7. FOOD AND AMMO SUPPLIES:
All food confiscated from evacuated farms. Received average of 2 rice balls a day.
Original issue of ammo left at time of capture.

8. ENEMY INTENTIONS:
Objective of 7th Div was MASAN (馬山).
3rd Bn was not in combat as of 5 Sep.
Co CO ordered the men never to surrender and to fight to the last man.

9. US PW’S
Approx 200 US PsW observed at SEOUL, d/u Aug 50.

10. S KOREAN SENTIMENTS:
Whenever they marched through a village or a town, people were frightened to see the N Korean forces, and never came out of their houses.
