INTERROGATOR’S REMARKS:
On the morning of 8 Sep 50 PW was pinned downed by the ROK troops and captured.
PW was evidently unobservant and the information derived seems limited.

573rd (or 574) KUN PUTAI: 1,200 to 1,300 men
Three (3) Inf Bn’s in KUN PUTAI: 500 men each (?)
There were three (3) Inf Companies, one (1) HMG Co and one (1) Mortar Co in a rifle battalion.
HMG Company: Number of personnel unknown. (Saw three (3) HMG - no other info.)
Mortar Company: Number of personnel unknown, (Saw 3 or 4 82mm mortar. No other info)
Inf Company: 150 men
Three (3) plts in a company: 40 men each
Four (4) sqds in a platoon: 10 or 11 men each.
Company C.O., Plt ldrs and Sqd Ldrs carried PPSH SMG, two (2) 72 round magazines each.
Ass’t Sqd Ldr: DPLMG, 500 rounds each.
Others M1891/30: 100 rounds each.
All men carried either one or two (2) hand grenades.

PW believed only 20 or 30 men now remain in his battalion. No other information.

REPLACEMENT:
PW did not see any replacements in his unit. PW stated that wounded solders were never taken to the rear for treatment.
Every man was to care for himself.

ENEMY INTENTION:
Objective of KUN PUTAI was YONGCHON.

MORALE:
PW stated the morale of the troops was high before he was captured because the officers stated that TAEGU had already fallen and the UN forces are disrupted.
