PW was ignorant and unobservant. He did not know the meaning of Co, Bn, Regt or Div. He doesn't even remember the places he travelled.
3. T/O & E OF PW'S UNIT:No information on division to platoon.
2nd Squad - 12 men.
Two HMG's in one squad, five (5) 240 rd boxes per gun. Three-five men to a HMG. All men carried Russian carbines, 100 rds each.
4. DISPOSITION OF ABOVE UNITS:Unknown.
5. ESTIMATED STRENGTH OF ABOVE UNITS:Unknown.
6. PERSONALITIES:Unknown.
7. PERSONAL & UNIT HISTORY:Inducted 24 Jul 50 at SEOUL. Received 15 days of basic infantry training at SEOUL. There were more than 5,000 S Korean recruits. PW believed that these recruits would be distributed into the 8th, 15th, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Divs. The breakdown of the personnel is unknown. 300 recruits including PW departed SEOUL on 11 Aug 50, marched, arrived 12 kms S of ANDONG ? Aug 50. 300 recruits were placed in the 8th Div. PW received rifle here.
4 Sep 50, at 1600, PW was captured by the 17th Regt ROK troops after being separated from his unit.
8. ENEMY INTENTIONS:Mission; to take YONGCHON within 15 days after battle is begun.
9. MORALE:PW stated that the morale of the troops was high. They want to fight and end the war quickly.
10. CAPTURED EQUIPMENT:PW saw 50 American carbines being distributed to recruits 12 kms S of ANDONG on 26 or 27 Aug 50. 100 rds each were also distributed to the men.
