1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was cooperative, however, interrogator cannot determine whether he is telling the truth or not.

3. PERSONAL HISTORY:
PW has worked as a school boy from Nov 45 to 12 May 50, when he graduated from College of Education, Seoul National University. He worked at the following places:
17 Sep 46 to Jul 49: Red Cross, which was located in the American 31st Inf-Regt area as a skilled worker, half interpreter half laborer. 1 Oct 49 to 6 Sep 49: Special Billet Guard of Seoul Police Bureau - Interpreter.
6 Sep 49 to 28 Sep 50: Seoul Security of AMIK - Guard
2 Jul to 5 Jul: TAEJON S. Korean Army Liaison Officer’s Room Interpreter.
5 Jul to 20 Jul: 34th Inf Regt Hq’s Communication Interpreter.
On 20 Jul saw 15 American GI's including a 1st Lt. Only one GI named Bill and PW reached OKCHON on 23 Jul. They were captured by NK 16th Regt scouts. Whereabouts of the other Gl's unknown.
On 23 Jul, PW was placed into the NK 16th Regt Hq as an interpreter because of his knowledge of English. He was forced to this work.
PW and GI were taken back to TAEJON, 24 Jul.
Departed TAEJON with NK troops, 25 July, marched, arrived KUMSAN, 26 Jul.
4th Div arrived here.
Departed KUMSAN, 26 Jul, night marched, by passed MUJU, arrived KOCHANG, ? , Jul.
Departed KOCHANG, ? Jul, marched, arrived HYOPCHON, ? Jul.
Departed HYOPCHON, ? Jul, marched, crossed NAKTONG River, 4 Aug, arrived on a Mt, 4 Km E of river on the night of 4 Aug.
Only 16th Regt arrived here. Other Regts were presumably near this 16th Regt. Exact location unknown.
300 recruits joined 16th Regt 19 Aug. On 20 Aug, 4th Div retreated 12 Km SW across NAKTONG River due to American pressure. PW believes only 200 - 300 personnel were left in the 16th Regt. However, at a point 12 Km SW of NAKTONG River, he believed the Regt returned to full strength, because he saw an unknown number of recruits. Most of the recruits did not carry any weapons.
On 3 Sep, 4th Div once again crossed the NAKTONG River and, on the night of 5 Sep, arrived at a point 12 Km E of NAKTONG River and approx 12 Km W of MIRYANG. Suddenly, the 16th Regt Hq was fired upon by American troops. Hq personnel retreated to the rear; once again they were met by American fire. PW saw two men killed and 12 wounded. Whereabouts of others unknown. Since the Bns were out in flank positions, location of Bns unknown.
PW and a fellow soldier were captured by American 2d Bn on 6 Sep 50.

4. UNIT ORGANIZATION & STRENGTH:
PW was only in the Regt Hq, so he knew only those units which were attached to Regt.

5. SCOUT SECTION:
20 to 30 men.
Half of the men carried PPsh SMG with two 72 round magazines each, others, 1891/30 rifle, rounds unknown, 2 grenades. SMG Co: Number of personnel unknown, all men carried PPsh SMG guns, one or two 72 round magazines.

6. ADMINISTRATION:
10 Master Sgts. No weapons.

7. GUARD SECTION:
15 or 20 men.
Carried either PPsh SMG or 1891/30 rifles.

8. REGT FLAG SECTION:
10 men.
Carried either PPsh SMG or 1891/30 rifle.
PW saw one or two Corps guns, 185mm (?) pulled by tractor on 3 Sep. They were located West of NAKTONG River.
Ten 45mm guns, 5 or 6 x 105mm guns, Regt guns, 5 or 6 x 76mm guns were seen on 3 Sep after crossing the NAKTONG River.
Four T-34/85 tanks were seen across the NAKTONG River on 3 Sep.
Last known composition of unit: Unknown.

9. ENEMY INTENTION:
Enemy intention was to take MIRYANG. Date unknown,
PW heard that there were four Divisions in this sector, the 9th, 7th, 4th, 2d Div and 16th Brigade, Other information Unknown.

10. US PW’s:
PW saw five captured American soldiers on the E bank of NAKTONG River, 3 Sep 50, One was Cpl Peterson, one was an MP Cp1, one a Pfc, others Inf men. No other info,
NK officer interrogated prisoners. At times he would threaten the GI's with a pistol, stating, “If you tell a lie, I will kill you" but did not use force. Usually, what Div, what Regt, how many men, and how many arty pieces were the questions fired upon PW’s.
