2. ASSESSMENT:
Cooperative, apparently, reliable. PW’s attitude seems to be that he is a victim of circumstances. Civil Occupation: Student at Place of Birth, 8 years education completed, until induction 15 May 47. Attacked by US 38th Inf Regt. PW was cut off from the rest of his platoon, so he surrendered.
Further interrogation by higher headquarters not believed necessary.

3. PERSONAL & UNIT HISTORY:
Inducted 15 May 47 at NANAM into 2nd Div, 4th Regt, 1st Bn, 82mm Mortar Co, 1st Plt, 2nd Sqd. Trained as mortar crewman at NANAM for 3 years.
Departed NANAM on May 49 by railroad, arrived with entire 2nd Div in HAMHUNG on May 49. Trained as rifleman and mortar crewman in HAMHUNG for 1 year. Promoted to Jr Lt, Plt Ldr, at HAMHUNG in Jun 49.
Departed HAMHUNG, 13 Jun 50 by railroad, arrived with entire 2nd Div in KUMHWA, (127°28' - 38°20'), on 22 Jun 50.
Departed KUMHWA, 22 Jun 50, with entire 2nd Div, marched, arrived CHUNCHON, (1070-1682), on 29 Jun 50.
Departed CHUNCHON, 29 Jun 50, marched, arrived with 4th Regt. PW does not know whether other 2nd Div Regts departed at same time, in eastern outskirts of SEOUL, 1 Jul 50.
Departed with 4th Regt from SEOUL, 1 Jul 50, marched arrived via ANSONG, (1026-1576), in CHINCHON, (1142-1557), on 10 Jul 50. Promoted to Jr Lt and transferred as 3rd Plt Ldr, 82mm Mortar Co, 1st Bn, 4th Regt, 13 Jul 50, to replace former 3rd Plt ldr who had been killed in action.
Departed CHINCHON, 14 Jul 50, marched with entire 4th Regt, arrived CHONGJU, (1147-1530), o/a 23 Jul 50.
Departed CHONGJU, o/a 23 Jul 50, marched, arrived KUMCHON, (1110-1468), on 4 Aug 50.
Departed KUMCHON, 10 Aug 50, marched, arrived HYOPCHON, (1114-1402), on 19 Aug 50.
Departed HYOPCHON, 25 Aug 50, marched, arrived CHANGNYONG, 1 Sep 50. Attacked by US 38th Inf Regt at CHANGNYONG on 3 Sep 50, where upon PW surrendered.

4. UNIT ORGANIZATION & STRENGTH:
Original organization and strength of 2nd Div, 4th, 6th and 17th Rifle Regts and Arty Regt. Each rifle Regt approx 2,000 men. Arty Regt: 500 men.

6. ARMOR:
8 x SU -76 SP Guns attached to 2nd Div, 25 Jun 50. Not known to have tanks. Losses and replacements unknown.

7. ARTILLERY:
Unknown number of 76mm and 120mm arty pieces in Arty Regt, 2nd Division.

8. VEHICLES:
All artillery was truck-drawn. Number of vehicles unknown.
Unit duties: PW as Plt Sgt and Plt Ldr. respectively of 82mm Mortar Plat.
Unit History: 82mm Mortar Co., 1st Bn, 4th Regt, had received no replacements, 3 Sep 50, although its strength was reduced from 60 men to 45 men through casualties. However, rifle companies received replacement of men at least once every two weeks, number of replacements unknown. 4th Regt's heaviest casualties were at CHUNCHON, 29 Jul 50.

9. DISPOSITIONS:
Large ammo and Ration Dump is located KUMCHON, (1110-1468), 10 Aug 50.

10. COMMUNICATIONS:
Most bridges that are destroyed by UN aircraft are repaired sufficiently at night for vehicles to transport supplies. PW claimed that his unit was always well fed although barley, potatoes and other vegetables frequently were substituted for rice.

11. ENEMY INTENTIONS:
4th Regt's mission is to cut the TAEGU - PUSAN RR line and main highway at MIRYANG.

13. MORALE:
Morale of EM in PW’s Co, was low, 5 men deserted, because of UN aircraft and tanks. PW forbid EM under him to reed leaflets dropped by UN aircraft for fear that more men would desert and surrender. However, PW dared not punish any·man severely for reading such leaflets, because the EM might shoot him in the back during combat. PW picked up and read a SAFE CONDUCT PASS at HYOPCHON o/a 21 Aug 50.

14. MISCELLANEOUS:
Observed 2 x 76mm ox drawn, 3 x 45mm ox drawn, and 2 x 120mm truck drawn artillery pieces on west bank of Naktong River on the HYOPCHON-CHANGNYONG road, 1 Sep 50.
Observed 5 medium tanks in HYOPCHON, 25 Aug 50.
Observed about 10 ox carts carrying artillery ammo on the west bank of Naktong River on the HYOPCHON-CHANGYONG road, l Sep 50.
