2. ASSESSMENT:
Subject was very cooperative but not very intelligent. His scope of observation as very limited and he had a poor memory. Subject was in good physical condition. Not recommended for further interrogation, Reliability poor.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
25 Apr 50: Drafted into NKPA
4 Apr - o/a 15 Jun 50: Received basic tng as a member of 7th Div, 1st Regt at WONSAN. Tng included dismounted drill, marksmanship tng with Jap 9.9 rifle, grenade tng, and political indoctrination. Majority of officers and NCO's were ex-members of the CCF. Troops were recruits. Location other units 7th Div u/k. strength 1st Regt approx 3,000 men.
o/a 15 Jun - 1st Regt departed WONSAN by rail. Troops were equipped with Jap 9.9 rifles. Regt’l arty pieces consisted of 120mm mortars and 82mm mortars. Disposition and equipment other auxiliary units 7th Div u/k.
25 Jun 50 - 1st Regt crossed 38th parallel, location u/k, and engaged ROK forces. (From this date, subject does not remember any place names or dates except ANDONG and PIHAK-BAN. Subject vaguely remembers meeting soldiers of 5th Div, 2nd Regt at PIHAK-SAN. No other details.)
o/a 4 Sep - 1st Regt arrived at point 5 km SE ANGANG-NI. Strength 1st Regt approx 800 men. Subject heard 3rd Regt was 8 km to the right flank of the 1st Regt and that the strength of 3rd Regt was about 800 men. Location of 2nd Regt u/k. Subject heard that 5th Div was to the left flank of lat Regt, 7th Div.
7 Sep 50 - 1st Rogt was still located in the same area. Disposition other units u/k. 1st Regt engaged UN forces 4-7 Sep, fighting only at night. Regt'l losses approx 100 men. No other details.

Present capabilities: 1st Regt, 7th Div
Strength: Approx 700 men
Equipment: l x 76mm Howitzer, 4 x Mortars (type, cal u/k), 3 x HMG. M-1 rifles, Jap 9.9 rifles.
Ammunition: Average 80 rds per rifle Average 20 rds per mortar, hearsay
Supplies: Supplies being brought tram rear at night only. No vehicles. Supplies transported by civilians and ox carts. Amount and frequency u/k. Source u/k.

Morale:
Morale of the troops was very low due to the lack of food. The troops were told that all deserters would be shot but PW had not seen any such incidents. PW believes that 4 out of every 10 men were hostile toward their superiors and only obeyed orders under fear of death. The troops obeyed orders to the letter while in combat. The troops have not seen. any UN propaganda leaflets.
