Chronology:
Inducted NKPA 24 Apr 50 NAJIN (羅津), Close order drills, grenade tng, etc for 2 months at NAJIN. Movements as follows:
Departed NAJIN 14 Jul 50 - rail - arr CH’ORWON 30 Jul 50
Departed CH’ORWON 30 Jul 50 - marched - arr YOJU ? Aug 50
Departed YOJU ? Aug 50 - marched - arr CH’UNGJU ? Aug 50
Departed CH’UNGJU ? Aug 50 - marched - arr KUMCHON (金泉) ? Aug 50
Departed KUMCH’ON ? Aug 50 - marched - arr SOSAN (善山) ? Aug 50
Departed SONSAN ? Aug 50 - marched - arr UISONG ? Aug 50
Departed UISONG ? Aug 50 - marched - arr about 20 km North of YONGCH’ON and hid in Mt 26 Aug 50.
Remained in let for 10 days until the whole 15th Div arrived. After 10 days waiting, the 49th, 50th & Ind artillery Regts of the 15th Div arrived, The 45th Regt departed Mt area and marched toward YONGCH’ON. About 8 km North of YONGCH’ON the 45th Regt split into Bns. The 3rd Bn was ordered to encircle YONGCH’ON. The 7th Co was to attack YONGCH’ON on the left flank, the 8th Co in the middle and the 9th Co on the right flank. The 1st and 2nd Bns were to remain in the rear as reserve. The 49th, 50th and Ind Artillery Regts were to follow up the attack on YONGCH’ON after the 45th Regt. PW’s Co went into YONGCH’ON and was fired upon by ROK troops. The Co scattered all over the YONGCH’ON Area. PW managed to sneak into a house which was occupied by an old woman. PW got some civilian clothes from the woman and threw his uniform away, and he and the Woman packed her belongings and left for TAEGU. When he got as far as TOTONG DONG he was checked for identification. He then told them that he was in the NKPA. Disposition of rest of unit unknown.

Morale:
Morale of PW’s unit was fair. They believed that they had won the war and were coming down to occupy YONGCH’ON and TAEGU. No leaflets observed. PW states that officers in unit never went hungry. They always managed to at 3 or 4 times daily. Source of food unknown. Enlisted men ate 1 meal daily. About one handful of rice.
