6th Co CO - HONG, Yun Dok (홍윤덕) Capt; KIA
2nd Plt Ldr - KIM, Myong Son (김명선) Jr Lt; KIA

Capability of Unit:
Efficiency of unit was low. Although food was sufficient, the morale of the troops became law as casualties mounted. Troops arrived in SUNCH’ON in early Aug. After combat with US Forces, the troop's morale became quite low. They wished the war would end and didn't care which sides won. The troops were weary when they reached KWANGJU since they marched all the way from the 38° Parallel.

Supplies:
Ammunition and food were supplied to the Plts and Sqds from the company supply, Source and means of supply, unknown. At times food was quite short and the unit had only one meal a day,

Airfields:
Heard that an airfield was located at P'YONGYANG but further details were unknown.
An airfield was observed at SINUIJU in Jul 49, while PW was stationed within the airfield area for approx 20 days.
The airfield covered with grass 1 m high was 500 meters NE/SW by 300 meters NW/SE without any fence of boundaries. It was located on flat terrain just NE of the SINUIJU town area, 30 m NE of a double track RR line which extended toward MANCHURIA and 500 m S of the YALU River. One concrete runway NE/SW, 300 x 30 m was located on the central portion of the airfield. No hangers or repair facilities were located on this airfield but a semi-single story wooden administration building, 150 x 20 x 8 m was located on the N portion of the field. PW and 400 other troops from the 8th Route Army enroute to KOREA used this building for quarters. PW believed that this former Japanese A/F has not been used after 15 Aug 45, as not aircraft or aircraft personnel were observed.

4. GENERAL:
Strategic EEI:
Source of equipment:
1. Where manufactured - SOVIET RUSSIA and JAPAN
2. Name of factory - Unknown
3. Quality of equipment - good
4. Markings on equipment - The PPsh SMG which PW carried had Russian letters and the number 7131 atop the gun barrel. The ammunition for this SMG also had Russian letters and number 45 on them.

Political and Subversive Activities:
Anti-S Korean Propaganda - Troops were told that if captured, they would be killed on the spot. The S Korean Army and Police were exploiting the honest citizens of S KOREA and only the NKPA could help them.
