1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. T/O & E OF PW’S UNIT:
2nd Div (code 235) composed of 4th, 5th (code 244), and 17th Rifle Regts, an Artillery Regt. (5 x 45mm gun, 3 x 76mm field gun and 8 trucks), a Medical Bn, a Signal Company (wire & wireless; approx 50 men), an Engineer Co, (40 men armed w/smg & rifle. Equipment: shovel, pick, saw), and a SP Gun Unit (4 x SU 76).
6th Rifle Regt composed of three (3) Rifle Bns, an Artillery Co (2 x 45mm AT Gun & 4 x 120mm mortars), a Medical Co (5 doctors and 25 medics), a Signal Plat (20 men with telephone and wireless), and an Engineer Plat (20 men).
2nd Rifle Bn composed of the 4th, 5th, & 6th Rifle Companies, a HMG Co (45 men, 8 x HMG each with 1,500 rounds), a Mortar Co (45 men, 8 x 82mm mortar), a Med Squad (5 men) and a Signal Squad (8 men, 2 field telephone). Each Rifle Co, composed of 3 plats, totaled of 125 men, 6 x LMG’s, 3 x SMG’s and an unknown number of rifles (each carried 120 rounds). Each man carried 2 handgrenades.

3. DISPOSITION OF ABOVE UNITS:
6th & 17th (located to the North of 6th Regt) Regts crossed NAKTONG River SE of HYOPCHON on 1 Sept 50 and moved approx 3 km Eastward. 4th Regt is believed to be in Division reserve.
Hearsay: 9th Div was located to the S of 2nd Division.

4. ESTIMATED STRENGTH OF ABOVE UNITS:

5. PERSONALITIES:
1st Lt KIM Yun Sok (김윤선), Co of HMG Co, 2nd Bn, 6th Regt. (Killed in action.)

6. PERSONAL & UNIT HISTORY:
Inducted 16 Jul 50 at HAMHUNG.
Received 5 days training with 800 others. These 800 men departed HAMHUNG on 21 Jul 50 and marched South to KUMCHON where, on 16 Aug 50, they were assigned to various units of 2nd Div as replacements.
The 2nd Div departed KUMCHON on 20 Aug 50 and marched through SONGJU & KORYONG to HYOPCHON and marched SE to the NAKTONG River, 31 Aug 50/
6th & 17th Regts crossed NAKTONG River 010400 Sep 50 and headed East. After advancing 3 km from the river, unit met heavy resistance (tank & MG fire),
PW believes unit suffered 50% casualties. Unit retreated, but informant and 20 others surrendered.

7. ARMOR:
One (1) T-34/85 tanks observed 3 km East of NAKTONG River SE of HYOPCHON on 2 Sept 50.

8. FOOD & AMMO SUPPLY:
Each soldier carried a four day food ration when crossing the NAKTONG River, 1 Sept 50.
Last ammo supply received at KUMCHON.

9. REPLACEMENTS:
Approx 800 NK troops including PW joined the 6th Div as replacements at KUMCHON, 16 Aug 50.

10. MORALE:
Morale of men low because of meager food ration and because they were inexperienced soldiers.

11. AMERICAN PW'S:
Observed approx 40 American PW's who were being transported North on trucks. Heard these PW's Will be taken to SEOUL.

12. MEDICAL:
Inoculated for cholera at HYOPCHON on 25 Aug 50.

13. REMARKS:
PW seems sincere and reliable.
