2. ASSESSMENT:
Cooperative. Information seems to be reliable. PW is uncertain about dates, but does know route his battalion took.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Inducted 5 Jul 50, SINP'O-Myon, with all 250 students of SINP'O Middle School. Departed SINP’O-Myon, 5 Jul 50 by railroad, arrived SEOUL 13 Jul 50, and marched to YONGSAN (龍山) (suburb of SEOUL) Primary School where all 250 students were issued uniforms and given 3 days physical training. Assigned to 17th Bn, 103rd Regt, SEOUL.
Departed with 17th Bn, 103rd Rect - YONGSAN section (1040-1630) on 17 Jul 50. Slept in YANGP'YONG Primary School.
Departed YANGP'YONG 19 Jul 50, marched, arrived WONJU (原州), o/a 21 Jul 50.
Departed WONJU, o/a 22 Jul 50, marched, arrived CHECH’ON (堤川) o/a 22 Jul 50.

Departed KUSAN-DONG o/a 27 Aug 50, marched, arrived CHUNG-Ni (1190-1480) o/a 27 Aug 50, At CHUNG-Ni, 12th Bn CO ordered 1st Plt Ldr to take 10 EM, proceed to WOLCHONG, and bring back an unidentified company of the 12th. Bn there to Bn Hqs, CHUNG-Ni by 1 Sep 50. Upon arriving at WOLCH’ONG, 2 Sep 50, 1st Plt Ldr and 10 EM (including PW) received ROK small arms fire, Plt Ldr and 8 men attempted to withdraw, but PW and wounded friend surrendered to ROK soldiers on 2 Sep 50.

12th Bn (17th Bn) strength 750 men on 1 Sep 50. No losses up to 1 Sep 50. After that, unknown. No replacements by 2 Sep 50,
Riflemen were armed with Jap Model 99 or 38 or Soviet M1899/30 rifle, 75 rounds, 1 grenade.
MG Co, 12th (17th Bn) Bn - 1 Jap "Hotcbkiss" Type HMG, 1 US Browning. 30 cal HMG, 1 US .30 cal LMG.
Mortar Co, 12th Bn - 8 US x 60-mm Mortars.
Replacement of ammunition, amount unknown at CHUNG-Ni, o/a 29 Aug 50.

Armor:
Observed one medium tank approx 17 km NW of ANDONG, o/a 28 Jul 50.

Artillery:
Observed none.

Vehicles:
Observed 3 x 2½-ton trucks carrying rice, uniforms, and wooden barrels (contents, unknown) in CH’ONGSONG on 15 Aug 50.

Supplies:
Received two rice balls daily, if airplanes were active over 12th (17th) Bn. Received three rice balls if aircraft were not active, No food was delivered to 12th Bn after departing CH'ONGSONG, 17 Aug 50.
Ammunition last received - CHUNG-Ni o/a 29 Aug 50. 75 rounds per man left.

Enemy Intentions:
Objective of 12th Bn was PUSAN. PW heard nothing of any plan to attack T’AEGU.
No gas training or equipment received.

4. GENERAL
Additional Information: Observed one guerrilla approx 5 miles east of KASAN-DONG o/a 25 Aug 50.
Morale in 12th Bn was low because all the EM were inexperienced in military activities. No EM had ever been in combat.
Read contents of SAFE CONDUCT LEAFLETS dropped by aircraft over HYONSO-Myon o/a 31 Aug 50. Squad leader informed men at that time that EM were permitted to read leaflets but not allowed to keep them.
