3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Inducted 29 Jul 50 into at SEOUL University. Due to excessive allied air activities, basic training was limited to 2 hours daily, close order drill for 1 week.
1,200 departed SEOUL 11 Aug 50 - marched - arrived WONJU (原州) - 16 Aug 50.
Departed WONJU 16 Aug 50 - marched - arrived ANDONG (安東) 27 Aug 50.
Departed ANDONG 29 Aug 50 - marched - arrived UISONG (義城) 30 Aug 50.
Departed UISONG - 30 Aug 50 - marched - arrived KUNWI (軍威) 1 Sep 50. PW‘s Co was ordered to attack Hill 343. ROK Units opened fire and unit suffered 40 killed and 9 taken prisoner of 80 men.
Weapons and Personnel:
As of 2 Sep 50, Regt had 700 x rifles, 9 x SMG’s, 6 x LMG’s, 5 x 45 mm AT Gun, 6 x HMG’s, 5 x 82-mm Mortars—had been withdrawn to the rear.
Capability of Unit:
Morale was low when the unit departed SEOUL. After discovering the ROK and UN Forces had more and superior equipment, PUSAN and T’AEGU were not taken by NKPA as told, the morale went lower.
SEOUL, YONGSAN, HAN River Bridge, ANDONG, UISONG, TANGYANG, PUNGGI, WONJU and YANGPYONG suffered heavy damage by US aircraft.
WONCHONG (元町) Supply Dump in SEOUL City was completely destroyed by US aircraft.
Vehicles:
5 x ZIS-151 trucks to PW's unit.
Supplies:
2 lbs rice, 60 biscuits, 5 dried fish when departed SEOUL, Confiscated food in various villages enroute.
Enemy Intention:
PW’s unit was falsefully informed by officers of their objectives. First ANDONG, UISONG, and finally T’AEGU.
