Date and Place Captured: 28 1000K Aug 50 - approx 4 km W of a mine in CHINJU Area.

Evaluation:
Because of PW’s low intelligence, information is limited and unreliable.

Personal and Unit History:
PW was conscripted into 2nd Co, 1st Bn at TAEJON, 13 Aug 50, 2nd Co left TAEJON on same day - marched to mountain location near CHINJU arriving on 15 Aug 50. 2nd Co was weaponless when it left TAEJON. PW received a uniform upon arrival at mountain near CHINJU. At same time, unit received 1 x mortar, 7 x Jap rifles, and 3 x HMGs, 3 x US Carbines and 17 US M-1 rifles.

Strength of 2nd Co:
In TAEJON - 80 men. At time of PW’s capture, strength was reduced to 64 men.

Food and Ammunition Supplies:
Food was carried on back by soldiers. Source and route, unknown.

Replacements:
He replacements were sent to PW’s unit. Wounded personnel were sent to the rear.

Combat Psychology:
PW heard from friends that they were instructed to fight to the last man. They were also instructed to shoot NKPA troops seen retreating or surrendering.

Morale:
Morale of PW's Co was extremely low.

Captured Equipments:
PW observed 3 x US Carbines and 17 x M-1 Rifles in 2nd Co.

US PW’s:
PW observed 2 US PsW 13 Aug 50, at approx 2 km S of TAEJON.
