Food and Ammunition supply:
The food supply was generally sufficient. When their trucks were delayed in bringing up rood from the rear, rood. was confiscated from the occupied area.
The ammunition supply was inadequate as their supply lines were frequently interdicted. PW heard that some front line troops were completely out of ammunition when they engaged the enemy after crossing the NAKTONG River. PW received one issued of 45 rounds after crossing the NAKTONG River.

Replacements:
On 18 Aug 50, the 16th Regt, 4th Div, received about 400 replacements (conscripts from TAEJON). From this group, 200 were assigned to the 2nd Bn, 19 Aug 50.
About 30 wounded from his Co were sent to a field hospital located in H’YOPCH’ON. PW was the only one from this group who returned to the front.
PW observed about 300 wounded at the hospital between 6 and 16 Aug 50.

Enemy Intentions:
It was rumored within PW’s unit that the next objective of the 4th Div was MIRYANG via CH’ANGYONG. This would out the enemy’s supply line between PUSAN and TAEGU.
Troops were instructed by their platoon leaders to fight to the last man and never to surrender because ROK troops gave no quarter to NKPA prisoners,

Morale:
The morale of PW’s unit was very low due to lack of military training, and the loss of experienced men in battle.

About 30 x 2½-ton trucks (US) were utilized by the 4th Div after they crossed the 300 Parallel.

US PW’s:
About 50 US PW’s were observed at CHOCH’IWON in Aug 50. They were detained in a church. PW heard from a guard at the church that these PW’s would be sent back to SEOUL at a later date.
On 24 Jul 50 at KUNSAN, PW saw a NK propaganda leaflet showing US prisoners in a prison camp located somewhere in SEOUL.
