PW cooperative, but information was limited. Reliability fair.
Military History:2 Jul 50 - Inducted at HASONG (下聖) Training Center, Approx 2,000 men were inducted at the time. These men received no training.
17 Jul 50 - The 2,000 departed HASONG by train.
O/a 23 Jul - Reached WONJU (原州) via smut and SUWON (水原). They then proceeded on foot.
D/u Aug 50 - Reached TANGYANG and distributed to various units. PW and a friend deserted their unit and fled to the south.
D/u Aug 50 - PW and his friend were picked up by their own side at ANDONG (安東), They were sent to 8th Div &Jrs and worked as cooks. They were always under guard.
O/a 15 Aug 50 - 8th Div Hqrs moved S of UISONG (義城). PW and 23 others were ordered to move to the South.
O/a 26 Aug 50 - The 24 men reached 12 Ian N of YONGCH'ON (永川). They were assigned to various units in the 1st Regt, 8th Div. The 1st Regt was separated into companies and deployed on the hills located 12 km N of YONGCH'ON.
30 Aug 50 - PW and 2 others surrendered after fierce battle with ROK troops. Yost of the men in the 1st and 3rd Cos were killed or fled.
Supplies:Ate average once in two days. Ammunition dump was located approx 24 km N of YONGCH'ON.
Armor:PW observed 5 tanks heading North 12 km N of YONGCH'ON o/a 28 Aug 50.
Artillery:PW observed 3 x 120 howitzers being hauled by truck S of UISONG (1160-1490) o/a 15 Aug 50.
Enemy Intentions:Objective of 1st Regiment, 8th Div - YONGCH'ON.
