Evaluation:
PW was cooperative, but uncertain of details. He became confused when trying to remember exact elites arid details.

Military History:
Inducted 7 Jul 50 at NANAM (羅南). Trained in close order drill, and manual of arms, 1 week.
Departed NANAM is 18 Jul 50 - by rail - arrived with approx 1,000 other replacements - SEOUL o/a 25 Jul 50.
Departed SEOUL o/a 25 Jul 50 - marched over newly constructed narrow gauge RR wooden bridge across HAN River - continued marching arrived SUWON - o/a 27 Jul 50.
Departed SUWON o/a 27 Jul 50 - marched - arrived CH’UNGJU o/a 4 Aug 50.
Departed CH'UNGJU o/a 4 Aug 50 - marched - arrived MUN’GYONG (聞慶) 12 Aug 50. Joined 1st Regt - MUN’GYONG and issued rifle with 3 rounds.
Departed MUN’GYONG 13 Aug 50 - marched southeast approx 16 miles to a mountain where RW and other replacements were assigned to specific units - 14 Aug 50.
Departed mountain approx 16 miles SE of MUN’GYONG - 14 Aug 50 - marched with 1st Regt - arrived KUSAN-DONG (九山洞) - 23 Aug 50. Shelled by artillery - KUSAN-DONG - 23 Aug 50. PW wounded and unable to fight. His company proceeded south to counterattack ROK Units. It suffered heavily and was disorganized by 27 Aug 50. PW saw hundreds of dead from his Regt. The wounded were scattered and entire 1st Regt was in confusion. PW wandered into a persimmon orchard. with two other wounded. men 28 1600K Aug 50. While eating persimmons, they encountered ROK soldiers. They surrendered immediately.

Weapons and Personnel:
1st and 2nd Regt were in vicinity of KUSAN-DONG. 1st Regt had strength of l,500 men - 23 Aug 50, but was annihilated by 27 Aug 50, having had about 1,200 casualties (killed, wounded or deserted).

Armor:
Observed 3 tanks (type unknown) - MUN’GYONG 12 Aug 50.

Artillery:
Observed 3 truck-drawn artillery pieces (type unknown) - MUNGYONG - 12 Aug 50.

Vehicles:
Observed 5 trucks with artillery pieces mentioned above, MUN’GYONG 12 Aug 50. Trucks carried. artillery shells, rice and tobacco.

Supplies:
Received average of 1 barley ball every other day. PW was constantly hungry.

Enemy Intentions:
Objective of 1st Div - TAEGU.

Additional Information:
PW picked up ‘Safe Conduct Pass’ - KUSAN-DONG 27 Aug 50. Gave it to ROK soldiers when he surrendered.
After PW joined 1st Plt, 2nd, Co, 2nd Bn, 1st Regt, 14 Aug 50, men who had been in the unit prior to PW’s arrival told him that 1st Regt was formerly called the 14th Regt.
Morale was low because PW and other replacements in 1st Regt lacked food, ammunition and training.
