Circumstance of Capture: While they were coordinating with the 23rd Regiment of the 13th Division about advancing toward TAEGU, they were strafed and bombed by aircraft which destroyed their five tanks. Later they were ambushed and surrounded by South Korean troops and captured.

Training:
Prisoner received his training with the 1st Division, 45 mm Antitank Battalion at PYONGBUCK, KANGGEN from February 47 to September 48. In September he was transferred to the 2nd Regiment of the Tank Brigade. At this time he was assigned to the communications sections, where he was taught to operate the 9 R radio receiver (typical tank and self-propelled gun radio units) for two months by a Russian 1st Lt. During the two months at PYONGYANG, he observed 500 personnel of the 2nd Regiment, four T-34 (85) tanks, which were used for training.

Location of Units:
Brigade Headquarters was located in the vicinity of TAEJON.
Regiment Headquarters was advancing toward an unknown mountain 20 km from the place PW was captured on 12 August 1950.
Headquarters of the 13th Division was located on the hill of NAKSONG-DONG on the 12th of August l950.
PW heard that the 3rd Division was located about ten miles forward (toward TAEGU).

Efficiency:
The troops hod boon trained for one year and the armor on the tanks was heavy enough for tho defensive fire of the South Korean Army.

Morale:
Their morale was rising, because they were. steadily advancing, also they were ere informed that all of SOUTH KOREA had been liberated except TAEGU.

FATIGUE:
Compared with other units of the North Korean Army, they wore well supplied and ready for combat.

Foreign Elements:
Soviet Advisors:
(a) When the Tank Regiment was organized there were about thirty Russian advisors, including a few civilians.
(b) When the tank Regiment transferred to CHORWON, there was one Soviet advisor.
(c) When the Regimental Commander intended to make a decision, he had to consult the Russian advisor first.

Antiaircraft:
PW heard that there was one Antiaircraft Regiment located at PYONGYANG.

Anti-South Korean Propaganda:
The South Korean Army must be completely wiped out because they are selling their county to America.

American PW’s:
At SUWON, Prisoner heard from a Sergeant in the 4th Division, that several American soldiers were shot to death as they came out with hands up to surrender. About fifteen North Korean soldiers, who had participated in this murder, were supposed to have been transferred or sent back to SEOUL of PYONGYANG. He also observed approximately thirty (30) American PW’s being lead toward a truck to be taken to SEOUL. The hands of the GI's were not tied or bound. Guards were observed, one in the front, two on each side and one in the rear. Only a couple of the GI's were observed with slight wounds on their limbs
