Evaluation:
PW had limited information, but is fairly reliable.

Military History:
Inducted 7 Jul 50 at YANGYANG (襄陽). Assigned to the 8th Division. At least 4,000 men with the 8th Division at that time. 8th Division and its units were all in YONGYONG. Approx 50% of the division were recent conscripts who were trained by the more experienced men during the march to the front.
Departed YANGYANG 8 Jul 50, marched, arriving KANGNUNG (江陵) 9 Jul 50. Departed KANGNUNG 9 Jul 50, marched, arriving CHECH’ON (堤川) and YECH'ON (禮泉) date unknown. arrived UISONG 16 Aug 50 and some day proceeded to DINGYE-DONG arriving during the night. From there the 1st and 2nd Regiments advanced 12 km Southeast and engaged ROK troops. PW does not know the location of the 8th Division Headquarters, 3rd Regiment or the Artillery Regiment after the entire 8th Division arrived at UISONG. Until the date of capture the 1st and 2nd Regiment had artillery support from the rear. PW did not observe any artillery pieces or troops.
PW became separated from his company, 24 Aug 50, while the company was under fire. He took the opportunity to desert and was taken prisoner in the vicinity of UIHUNG by ROK troops. At time of capture PW was armed with one M-1891/30 rifle, 150 rounds, and 2 grenades.

Weapons and Personnel:
1st, 2nd, 3rd Battalions of 1st Regt have 2 companies each. 2nd Co - 100 men, 2nd Plt - 30 men, Sqd - survivors of 3rd mid 4th sqds of 2nd Co were placed in 1st and 2nd Sqds. PW was placed in 2nd squad. 2nd Squad - 9 men, 1st Squad - 9 men. Riflemen were armed with M1891/30 rifles, 150 rounds, and 2 grenades. Sqd ldr carried PPsh submachine gun, ass’t sqd ldr a DP LMG, officers with pistol. 2 HMGs in Co. PW has not observed any replacement of personnel or equipment.

Armor:
Observed 3 x T-34/85 tanks 16 Aug 50 at UISONG during night heading towards the YONGCH'ON (永川) Area.

Artillery:
None observed.

Vehicles:
Observed about 10 trucks at UISONG. Some were moving north and others south on the night of 16 Aug 50.

Supplies:
Until PW was captured, ammunition was brought to the front every night by local farmers. PW heard from one of the bearers that they brought the ammunition from ANDONG. PW does not know whether vehicles were used or not. Food was obtained from farm villages. if fortunate men ate 2 meals a day, but usually had only one meal of barley.

Enemy Intentions:
Objective of 8th Division was T’AEGU.
