Subject was wearing NKPA underwear only. Claims that captors undressed him. Referred to CIC.

Date enlisted ROK Army: Feb 47 at UIJONGBU.
Movement and activities:
Feb 47 - Assigned to Recon Co, “KIM SOK WON UNIT” (Regt) (김삭원부대) Unit designation unknown. Stationed UIJONGBU. Received training in reconnaissance.
10 Nov 47 - 6 men, subject included, from Recon Co ordered by LEE CHUN MOK (리준목) CO, Recon Co to proceed to N. KOREA, enlist in NKPA and supply him with information of NKPA activities. Men told to contact KIM, HUNG SIK (김흥식), a resident agent operating a candy store as a cover in YONCH'ON. Candy shop was situated in front of the YONCH’ON RR station.
6 men departed UIJONGBU 10 Nov 47. After crossing INJIN-GANG the men separated and individually made their way to YONCH’ON. Names of associates unknown.
15 Nov 47 - Subject arrived YONCH’ON and established contact with KIM, HUNG SIK. Contact established with aid of identification note from LEE, CHUN MOK. Subject stayed at the home of KIM, HUNG SIK, Address KANGWON-Do, YONGCH’ON-GUN, YONCH’ON-Myon UNNE-RI (漣川郡 漣川面 夽內里) No contact made with remaining 5 men from S. KOREA.
20 Nov 47 - Subject furnished same cigarettes by KIM, HUNG SIK and was told to establish himself as a cigarette vendor. Subject sold cigarettes until Dec 48, establishing his address at KIM HUNG SIK's residence.
15 Dec 48 - Enlisted in the NKPA at YONCH’ON. Assigned to 7th Regt, 3rd Div which was then situated 1.2 km W of YONCH'ON. Received basic training, studied strength and equipment of 7th Regt.
o/a 15 Jan 48 - Relayed information concerning strength and equipment of 7th Co, 3rd Bn, 7th Regt to KIM, HUNG SIK (strength: 150 off and men) also name of Co CO.
o/a 15 Mar 48 - Relayed information on strength and equipment, 3rd Bn, 7th Regt to KIM, HUNG SIK (strength 675, equipment - 6 x 82-mm Mortars, 15 HMGs, 5 x PTRD AT Rifles) also name of Bn CO and disposition of units of the 7th Regt.
15 Mar 48 to End of Jan 50 - Reported movements of 7th Regt units to KIM, HUNG SIK. Also information on large quantities of incoming ammunition.
Feb 50 - KIM, HUNG SIK disappeared, contact broken. Without contact, subject was not able to escape to S KOREA since the 38° parallel was well guarded. Subject held rank of Sgt (squad leader).
10 Jun 50 - Promoted to Sr Sgt, with duty as asst platoon leader.
20 Jun 50 - Promoted to Jr Lt with duty as platoon leader. Promoted because platoon leader died of disease.

Tactical Movements:
20 Jun 50: 3rd Div disposition as follows: 7th Regt in YONCH’ON 8th Regt in CHONGSAN: other units unknown.
25 Jun 50: 7th Regt crossed 38° parallel, advance south on west side of UIJONGBU-YONCH'ON RR Line, bypassed UIJONGBU to the west and arrived SEOUL 29 Jun 50. Did not make any contact with S Korean Forces. 8th Regt engaged S Korean Forces at UIJONGBU, hearsay. No units other than 3rd Div were in SEOUL.
30 Jun 50: 7th Regt departed SEOUL and marched Routh via SUWON, P’YONGTAEK, CHONAN, TAEJON, KUMSAN and MUJU to KUMCH'ON, arriving there on 5 Aug 50. Enroute, the unit sustained one aerial attack in the northern outskirts of SUWON. Casualties sustained were about 10 men. Between SEOUL and KUMCH’ON, the 7th Regt made no contact with ROK Forces. Disposition of other units of 3rd Div unknown. Subject did not see any NKPA units in KUMCH’ON and has not heard of any units in the vicinity.
6 Aug 50: 7th Regt departed KUMCH’ON at 2000, marched along south side of KUMCH’ON-WAEGWAN Highway. Arrived west bank of NAKTONG River at a point 2 km S of WAEGWAN RR Bridge. Enroute, 300 casualties resulted from Arty fire. 1st and 3rd Bns, 7th Regt crossed the NAKTONG River at this point at 0300 7 Aug 50. Total strength approx 1,000. 2nd Bn did not cross and remained on the west bank. 1st and 3rd Bns climbed a hill 1 km S of WAEGWAN and proceeded south a mountain 4 km S of WAEGWAN. At this point, at about 0600, 7 Aug 50, the 1st and 3rd Bns sustained fire from 6 US tanks. Number of casualties unknown since PW had become separated from the units at the foot of the hill, reason, illness.
6 Aug 50: - 26 Aug 50 - Subject wandered about the area, found a hurried village where he stayed until captured. During this period, subject had no contact with his unit.

Morale: Morale of the troops was very high and they were confident in final victory. The lack of food caused much discontent but spirits were high.
Strength: Original strength 7th Regt approx 3,000. Present strength (on 6 Aug 50) approx 2,500. No details.
Supplies: No supplies were taken on departure from SEOUL; troops lived off the land. Troops ware told that supplies would arrive shortly after crossing the river but because of the attack 6 Aug 50, no supplies arrived. Source of supplies unknown.
