ATIS INTERROGATION REPORT NO. 799　28 August 1950

FIELD REPORT (ADVATIS - 0602)　26 August 1950

Informant was unintelligent. He was cooperative but unfamiliar with military units and equipment. Informant considered fairly reliable by interrogator.

3 Jul 50 - Conscripted into replacement unit, HAERYONG. No training 300 students (ages 17-22) still dressed in school uniforms departed immediately in southerly direction via rail.

16 Jul 50 - Arrived at YANGYANG via RANNA, KILCHU, TANCH’ON, TONG-Ni, T’ONGCH’ON, KOSONG, TAEP’O-Ri. Damaged railroad bridge at HAMHUNG forced replacement unit to transfer trains.

22 Jul 50 - Replacement unit (still waring school uniforms) departed YANGYNAG. Marched in southwest direction.

26 Jul 50 - Arrived at CHECH’ON. Issued new army uniforms and used rifles. 100 rounds. Replacement unit (300) assigned to 8th Div Units. PW and 120 replacements assigned to Div Arty Regt.

30 Jul 50 - Div Arty Regt arrived at NAKTONG River via TANYANG, YONGJU, ANDONG over dirt highway. Travel via truck at night only.

30 1100K Jul 50 - Arty Regt, 1st Bn (7 x 76-mm M1942 AT Guns, 7 x fully loaded trucks, 100 troops) ferried across NAKTONG River on single pontoon raft propelled by cars. Other 8th Div units unknown.

6 Aug 50 - 8th Div Arty Regt 1st Bn entered UISON. 3rd Inf Regt crossed NAKTONG River (hearsay).

6 - 25 Aug 50 - 3rd Inf Regt and Arty Regt 1st Bn advanced to point approximately 20 km S of UISONG.

24 Aug 50 - PW transferred from Arty Regt to 8th Div 3rd Inf Regt. 6 x 76-mm M1942 AT Guns remaining with Arty Regt 1st Bn.

25 0800 Aug 50 - Captured by counter-attacking ROK Army Units at point on highway 20 km S of UISONG.

8th Div 3rd Inf Regt (3 battalions) - Strength - 170 men

1st Bn 1st Co (3 platoons) Strength - 50

1 Maxim HMG M1910 (on Sokolov Mount)

PW did not possess any information regarding disposition of other units.
