Military History:
PW inducted into the (Chinese) People’s Army, replacements unit, YUEHCH’ING (月晴), MANCHURIA, 20 Feb 47. PW received three months (Feb-May 47) basic training, YUEHCH’ING, MANCHURIA. After his basic trainign PW spent 15 months in YUEHCH’ING as cook for the 2nd Bn, 488th Inf Brigade, 156th Div, 44th Army mess (May 47-Aug 48). Sep 48, the 156th Div departed for CHIO HUA (文化), MANCHURIA for garrison duty. Oct 48, the 156th Div was designated the 303rd Guard Unit. This guard unit was composed of Korean and Chinese. One Bn (500 men) Koreans and two Bns Chinese (1,000 men). The guard unit was organized to protect the property of the people, residing in CHIO HUA from bandits.
In Dec 48, 303rd Guard Unit departed for ANMU County (安称縣), MANCHURIA where they performed similar duties. departed ANMU Jan 49 marched - arrived YENCHI (延吉) Feb 49. At YENCHI, one Bn (Korean), 303rd Guard Unit was utilized on farms to help the labor shortage; two Bns as guards. After veing in YENCHI for 14 months (as loborer), they (Korean Bn) departed YENCHI Mar 50 - marched - arrived CHENGCHOU (正州), 20 Mar 50.
At CHENGCHOU PW’s Bn joined 9,000 Korean troops, who were with CCF. These troops departed for WONSAN by rail 20 Apr 50. Arriving WONSAN 25 Apr 50. According to the PW the 7th Div was organized at CHENGCHOU, MANCURIA Mar 50. At WONSAN PW received 2½ months (Apr 10 Jun 50) basic infantry training.

16 Aug 50, PW’s unit (supply platoon) and AT platoon were separated from their Bn. After finding out that they were separated, the two platoons organized (20 men) and started to seek the battalion. While marching, they were attacked by ROK troops. Due to the heavy fire of the machine guns PW fled and hid for two days. 20 Aug 50 PW gave himself up to ROK troops.

Weapons and Personnel:
Present strength and equipment of units: 2nd Bn - 250 men, 1 x 81mm mortar, no HMG, 7 to 8 x LMG near KIGYE 18 Aug 50. 2nd Bn received 150 replacements at P’OHANG-DONG (1230-1460) 15 Aug 50.

Vehicles:
10 x trucks (YAG-4 and GAZ-67 jeeps), P’OHANG-DONG 15 Aug 50.

Supplies:
Received average of two meals a day. Food was looted from farmers. Ammunition last received P’OHANG-DONG 10 Aug 50 (50 rds per man). Source of supplies unknown.

Enemy Intentions:
7th Div objective - T’AEGU.
