Departed with “Korean Div” from CHING-CHOU 12 Apr 50 by rail arriving ANTUN, NE CHINA 18 Apr 50. Departed ANTUNG, NE CHINA, 16 Apr 50 by railroad crossing YALU River into SINUIJU, KOREA, 16 Apr 50 arrived WONSAN 18 Apr 50. “Korean Div, Chinese Peoples Lib Army” redesignated 7th Div, NKPA, 25 Apr 50. PW notified of change by 9th Co CO. Trained in Soviet-type close order drill - 2 months.

Observed one Soviet officer at 7th Div Hqtrs when hqtrs was at WONSAN (Jun 50).

Original strength: Div - 10,000 men, Regt - unknown, Bn - 300 men, Co - 156 men, Plt - unknown, Sqd - unknown. Riflemen armed with US rifle Model 1903 (brought with troops from CHINA), 120 rds, 4 grenades. Sqd ldrs - rifles, officers - pistols. 5 PPsh submachine guns per company. One HMG Co in Bn, 30 men, 3 x Jap HMGs. One mortar Co in Bn, 30 men, 3 x US 60 mm mortars. Casualties, 3rd Bn, 3rd Regt about 150 men. 21 replacements for 9th Co at ANDONG (27 Jul 50). 15 PPsh submachine guns received by 3rd Bn. Arrived at ANDONG (27 Jul 50). No resupply of rifle ammunition (16 Aug 50).

Armor:
Observed 2 x medium tanks at KIGYE (15 Aug 50).

Artillery:
Saw unknown number of truck-drawn artillery pieces at night at KIGYE (15 Aug 50).

Vehicles:
Observed about 15 x 2½ ton trucks at KIGYE (15 Aug 50).

Supplies:
Received average 2 rice balls or 2 barley balls a day. Supplemented ration by confiscating food from farmers.

Enemy Intentions:
Objective of 7th Div was T’AEGU. No gas training or equipment received.

Additional Information:
Observed about 100 guerrillas in KIGYE 15 Aug 50. 5th Div occupied P’OHANG-DONG when PW was there (o/a 7 Aug 50). Saw no Safe Conduct Passes or other leaflets.
