Departed mountain - 21 Jul 50 - marched - fought all the way - arrived ANDONG - 21 Jul 50. No casualties in Mortar Co.
Departed ANDONG - 22 Jul - on foot - battled their way to P’OHANG-DONG arrived ? Aug 50. Between CH’ONGSONG (靑松) and P’OHANG-DONG (浦項洞) his Regt was strafed by aircraft. 22 men in PW’s Co killed and 1 truck damaged.
Departed P’OHANG-DONG ? Aug 50 - on foot - arrived KIGYE - 14 Aug 50. PW saw truck loaded with mortars retiring to the rear because there was no ammunition. Mortar men carried rifles and went into battle. 11 men from his company were killed. On 18 Aug 50, PW was hungry and disgusted so he left his unit and went to a farm village. 18 1200 K Aug 50, he was captured by ROK troops.

Unknown. PW stated that he remained at the rear of the company.

Weapons and Personnel:
Mortar Co T/O - strength 54 men - present strength, 11 men (18 Aug) T/E - 9 x 60-mm Mortar; at present 4 x 60-mm Mortar, all taken to rear by tuck, no ammunition.
3 platoons in a company; 3 squads in a platoon. Squad approx 11 men.
Men did not carry weapons. When the truck took the Mortars to the rear half of the Mortar Co men received M1891/30 rifle, rounds unknown. PW did not receive any weapon nor did he handle any weapon since he entered the army.

Vehicles:
PW saw approx 20 x GAZ-51 (did not know what they carried) at KIGYE 14 Aug 50.

Supplies:
After 14 Aug 50, PW received food once a day. Prior to that he received 3 meals a day. Food was usually confiscated from farm villagers.
Ammunition did not come up from the rear.

Enemy Intentions:
Mission was to take P’OHANG-DONG.

Additional Information:
PW stated that he saw the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Bns of the 1st Regt at KIGYE.
PW stated that he was unhappy in his Co because most of the men spoke Manchurian and not Korean. These were Manchurian-born Koreans.
