Unit was attacked on the night of 19 Aug by ROK and US soldiers. By 20 Aug 50, about half of 1st Co, 1st Bn were killed. PW was left behind with 4 other Pvts while his company counter-attacked an ROK unit on their left flank. PW and the other 4 Pvts attempted to flee to the rear but were met by members of an NKPA Unit (unidentified) who shot one of them. Men from unidentified NKPA unit believed that PW and the others were ROK men in NKPA uniforms. The four argued that they were really NKPA men. Then the unidentified NKPA men took them to a nearby house where there were ROK soldiers.
