Informant did not have any military knowledge. Observations limited.
Military History:Informant was a South Korean refugee. He was conscripted while attempting to flee from CHINJON-MYON.
Captured by NKPA at CHINJON-MYON on 10 Aug 50. Had one day’s training in close order drill at CHINJON-MYON. Did not receive any weapons. Subject was used as a runner to gather food for the unit and was captured by ROK Unit 18 Aug 50 while attempting to do so.

Weapons and Personnel:Approx 50 men were in PW’s unit. Most of them were equipped with M1891/30 Rifle. 10 x PPsh M1941 Submachine gun and 1 x M1940 Maxim HMG were observed in the unit.
Unit was located approx 1 km W of the town of CHINJON-MYON, on top of a mountain. Observed 2 US fighter planes strafing the unit after his capture.
Unit was composed of 1 officer (rank and name unknown) and approx 50 troops. Parent unit was unknown.

Food and Ammunition Supply:Food supply was brought from KOSONG (1130-1320) by oxcarts. Unit went to KOSONG once to get food. Informant did not go, therefore further information unavailable.

Morale:Morale of the unit was always low because of the critical shortage of food.
S Korean Civilians:Informant believes that most of the residents of CHINJON-MYON were killed because none were observed when he entered to gather food.
