PW was cooperative but lacked military information.

Military History:
Conscripted 10 Jul 50 at SEOUL. No basic training or chemical warfare training received. Approximately 4,000 conscripts left SEOUL 15 Jul 50 and arrived at CHINJU on 12 Aug 50 via TAEJON and KUMSAN. PW stated his unit was designated as 1st Bn of 13th Regt when they were issued rifles 8 km East of PANSONG 17 Aug 50.

T/O & E of PW’s Unit:
6th Division - unknown
13th Regt composed of three (3) rifle regiments.
1st Battalion composed of three (3) rifle companies.
2nd Company composed of three (3) rifle platoons.
1st Plt composed of three (3) rifle sqds.
PW observed only rifles for EM; pistols for plt ldrs and submachine guns for sqd ldrs. Two (2) grenades were issued only to plt and sqd ldrs.

Disposition of above Unit:
1st Battalion of 13th Regt was located 8 km East of PANSONG.

Armor:
Observed 7 x T-34/85 tanks between TAEJON and KUMSAN (date of observation unknown).

Artillery:
Observed about 7 x 76mm Regt howitzers the same place he saw the tanks.

Food & Ammo Supplies:
Food was obtained from the people of the villages and towns in the occupied area. Twenty five (25) rounds were issued to troops when they received their rifles at 8 km E of PANSONG on 17 Aug 50. Platoons leaders and squad leaders were issued pistols and submachine guns when they left SEOUL on 15 Jul 50 (Present number of rounds of ammunition unknown).

Capabilities of Unit:
Morale: The morale of the draftees was very low because of forced marches and lack of rifles but the morale of the NCO’s and officers remained high.
Replacements: PW was one of 4,000 conscripts who were sent to the 6th Div.
Captured equipment: Observed two (2) captured carbines used by the company C.O. and battalion C.O.

Enemy Intentions:
Troops were told never to surrendered but to fight to the last man. Objective of the unit - unknown.

North Korean Airforce & Navy:
Observed about twenty (20) NK Naval personnel on a truck at CHINJU (date of observation unknown) heading northward.

Mics Information:
About 50% of the farmlands observed by the PW between SEOUL and place of captured had been damaged or destroyed. Every bridge crossed by the PW had been recently constructed or showed signs of previous damage. PW was never instructed what to say or do in case of capture.
