Capabilities of Unit:
Morale: The replacements had the lowest morale in the 6th Div because of lack of training. They are forced to fight. If they retreated or tried to desert the unit, they were killed by their NCO’s or officers who followed the front line troops.
Replacements: On 17 Aug 50, approximately 6,000 (of whom he was one) replacements (50% South Koreans) arrived in CHINJU from SEOUL, to replace the wounded and killed troops of the 6th Div. The troops, upon arrival at CHINJU, were given weapons and dispersed to the Inf Regts on 18 Aug 50. Wounded troops were given limited medical attention. The wounded were not evacuated to the rear. They were left behind to take care of themselves.
