PW was cooperative, however he lacked information.

Military History:
Inducted 3 Jun 50 at MUSAN (茂山) (무산) 36 km West of HOERYONG. Received 20 days of Inf basic training at WONSAN.

Departed WONSAN 26 Jun 50 - foot - arrived CH’ORWON ? Jun 50
Departed CH’ORWON ? Jun 50 - foot - via CH’UNCH’ON, WONJU, CHECH’ON, TANYANG, P’UNGGI, YONGJU, ANDONG, KIGYE, arrived near P’OHANG-DONG, saw enemy retreated to KIGYE, arrived 16 Aug 50.
On 17 Aug 50 while PW’s company was in position in a hill near KIGYE they were attacked by the ROK 10th Regt. The company stated to retreat, however, PW remained with the food supplies, and was captured at 1000 hrs. PW remained with the wagon because he was disgusted with the officers and the whole business of war.

Weapons and Personnel:
4 x Bn’s in one brigade. 3 x rifle Bn’s - approx 700 men, one bn directly attached to brigade composed of supply, medical, signal and other units - approx 300 men. 4 x Co’s in a battalion. The bn had 3 x rifle companies and 1 x type 99 Jap water cooled HMG Co - 6 or 7 x HMG, 4 x rifle plt’s in a company, 4 x sqds in a platoon.
Rifle squad 11 or 12 men, at present 8 men. Sqd ldr - PPsh M1941 Submachine gun, 200 rounds, 4 grenades. Asst sqd ldr - DP LMG, 1,500 rounds. Others M-1, 120 rounds, 4 grenades. Before picking up the M-1’s on the ANDONG battle field, riflemen had M1891/30 rifles or type 38 Jap rifles. Officers - TOKAREV pistols. PW believed at present there were 70 to 80 men in a company. There was one American 30 calibre, water cooled HMG in a company. No mortar or no arty in his Brigade.

Armor:
Saw 12 x T-34/85 tanks near P’OHANG-DONG. Subject heard 3 were damaged Aug 50.

Vehicles:
Saw 50 x YAG-4 and ZIS-151, new and old trucks near P’OHANG-DONG on Aug 50. He later heard that these trucks were damaged by aircraft. Tcuks were loaded with ammo and good.

Supplies:
Received 30 rounds three times (twice at KIGYE). The ammunition did not come from the rear, but that which was picked up was distributed. Received one or two meals a day.
Saw one Bn of guerrillas at TANYANG Jul 50. Destination unknown. These men had a white arm hand on the right arm.

Enemy Intentions:
Mission was to annihilate the ROK troops in the KIGYE Area. PW heard that the 1st and 2nd Regt of the 7th Div were at KIGYE. 2 or 3 recruits came into his unit at ANDONG and P’OHANG-DONG.
