Evaluation:
PW was cooperative but due to limited military service, information was limited. PW was caught in peasant’s clothes in an attempt to desert his unit. Referred to JAG & CIC.

PW was inducted 4 Jul 50 at HAMHUNG. PW received no military training.

15 Aug 50 (1800 hours) PW and 2 others deserted their unit (3rd Co) because they did not want to get killed in combat. They disguised themselves as peasants and traveled toward P’OHANG DONG by foot. While they were on their way, they were stopped by the ROK 18th Regt. After investigating, they (ROK troops) found they were enemy troops and were held as PsW.

Personalities:
2nd Plt leader, 3rd Co: PAK MIN JU (박민주), rank Lt, age 26 yrs approximately.

Foreign Elements:
Negative.

Weapons and Personnel:
Company - 160 men, Plt - 45 men, Sqd - 11 men. Troops were armed with US M-1, Japanese type 38 rifles, 40 rounds, one grenade. Sqd ldrs and asst ldrs also were armed with US M-1. Officers pistols (various types). Casualties 3rd Co, 11th Bn - 10 men at “KUCHI DONG” 14 Aug 50. No replacements, men or equipment (15 Aug 50).

Artillery:
Observed 4 x 76mm guns at CH’ONGSONG 10 Aug 50.

Vehicles:
Observed 4 x vehicles (GAZ-51) at KUCHI DONG 14 Aug 50.

Supplies:
PW received two meals per day. Ammunition last received at KUCHI DONG 14 Aug 50 (40 rounds per man). Source of supplies or how frequently received, PW did not know.
