Evaluation:
Informant was of average intelligence and fairly cooperative, however ignorant of military matter due to short military service. Informant considered fairly reliable by interrogator.

Military History:
18 Mar 50 - Conscripted into training unit, People’s Training Center, YONGAMP’O. 460 conscripts (all farmers. ages 18-29, average age 23) received 2 months basic military training consisting of lectures on military subjects, rifle firing positions (using wooden rifles), rifle marksmanship (fired 3 rounds with M1891/30 rifle) and attack tactics. Extensive lectures given by political officer on Russian History, Communist doctrine, and anti-American subjects. After completion off training this unit assigned to 13th Div, 21st Regt, 3rd Bn. 21st Regt training in People’s Training Camp, SINUIJU. #3rd Bn composed of training unit, People’s Training Center, YONGAMP’O.
15 Mar 50 (Approx) - 13th Div alerted. Armed in YONGAMP’O (See weapons and personnel). Departed via rail from YONGAMP’O.
17 Mar 50 (Approx) - Passed through P’YONGYANG. HWANGJU (other place names unknown). Left train. 13th Div continued on foot.
12 Jun 50 (Approx - Arrived at CH’ORWON. Several days attack tactics training en-rout to CH’ORWON.
10 Jul 50 - 13th Div crossed 38° parallel. Entered SEOUL on trucks.
13 Jul 50 - 13th Div departed SEOUL on foot.
13 Jul - 10 Aug (Approx) - Arrived at NAKTONG River (location unknown) (PW tag: Captured 27 km North of TAEGU on SANGJU-TAEGU Road).
13 0400 K Aug 13th Div, 21 Regt crossed river in following order-1st Bn, 2nd Bn, 3rd Bn (PW’s unit). Other 13th Div unit crossings unknown. No opposition encountered during crossing operation. River 5 feet at deepest point of crossing. Firm send bed. Slow current. 21st Regt units advanced 200 meters east up the foot of sparsely wooded mountain.
14 Aug 50 - 3rd Bn left mountain, advanced toward T’AEGU over SANGJU-TAEGU road. At point 8 km southeast of NAKTONG River crossing point, on road, South Korean Army units launched attack. 3rd Bn driven into low wooded mountain east of road. Joined 21st Regt in mortar barrage from higher mountain West of road. Several attacks and counter attacks launched by either sided. US aircraft caused heavy casualties in 21st Regt.
16 Aug 50 - South Koreans withdrew from mountains positions. 21st Regt advanced southeastward, during hours of darkness, 8 km towards T’AEGU over SANGJU-T’AEGU road. Engaged twice by counter-attacking South Koreans.
18 1500 K Aug 50 - Captured by US troops after being wounded by NK troops in the confusion while hauling mortar shells from rear area to front mortar unit. PW and another captured.

Remarks:
Weapons hand-carried by 13th Division units across NAKTONG River included M1891/30 rifles, 100 rounds each, hand-grenades, PPsh M1941 submachine guns, DP LMG guns, MAXIM HMG M1910 (on SOKOLOV Mount), 82 mm M1937 medium mortars, 14.5 mm MM PTRD-41.
Weapons observed with 13th Div units east of NKATONG River after crossing operations included 4 x 76 mm M1939 guns (with trucks), 6 x 45 mm M1942 AT guns (4 drawn by trucks and 2 by horses) (21st Regt), 2 x T-34/85 medium tanks, 4 x SU-100 (Note: Of the 2 x T-34/85 medium tanks and 4 x SU-100, four were damaged and unserviceable), 6 x ZIS-151 trucks (loaded with ammunition), 3 x GAZ-67 Soviet Jeeps (Not US jeeps) carrying Cols and Maj’s, Note: Artillery, tanks, and vehicles were ferried over NAKTONG river on makeshift rafts (Hearsay - from fellow soldiers).
