Departed WONJU (原州) 11 Jul 50 - marched - arrived IMAM-NI 13 Aug 50. Contacted ROK troops 15 1900 K Aug 50. At about midnight 16 Aug 50, 2nd Co was heavily attacked by ROK forces. 2nd Co, (PW’s Co) attempted to withdraw. 2nd Co CO and 2nd Plat leader were both killed. PW and another private hid in a foxhole. Suddenly they found the hill on which they were surrounded by ROK soldiers. PW and friend surrendered to ROK soldiers.

15 x 2½ ton trucks observed at WONJU on 11 Aug 50. Trucks were bringing rice and slightly wounded soldiers southward.

Supplies:
Received 1 or 2 rice balls a day. Confiscated what little food farmers had.

Enemy Intentions:
Objective of 11th Guard Bn was to participate in capture of P’OHANG-DONG.
No gas training or equipment received.

Additional Intentions:
Observed no guerrillas.
Saw no Safe Conduct Passes or other leaflets. (PW added that he saw little of anything because all movements were made at night.)
