PW was fairly cooperative but lacked detailed information due to short military service.

North of P’OHANG-DONG where he was captured. At time of capture PW was not armed.

PW captured when the 3rd Battalion of the 3rd Regt, 7th Div moved on KIGYE. The 3rd Battalion was fired upon by the ROK troops and 43 troops were captured at this point. The battalion strength at the time was approximately 150 men. These men were believed to have been annihilated.
The PW stated that the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and the artillery regiments of the 7th Division are all located 2 km South of KIGYE - all dispersed along the mountains of KIGYE from West to East. PW has heard that the NK 5th Div is located in the POHANG-DONG Area. PW stated that food and weapons supplies are low due to having been out off and surrounded by ROK troops.

Weapons and Personnel:
7th Div - unknown, 3rd Regt - unknown, 3rd Battalion annihilated on 16 Aug 50. Riflemen armed with M1891/30 rifles or M-1938 carbine and 80 rounds. Officers armed with pistols. One rifle platoon has 3 x M-1946 LMG the number of rounds unknown. HMG company, 3rd Bn has 3 x MAXIM HMG M1910, number of rounds unknown. 60 mm Moratr Company, 3rd Bn, 3rd Regt, 7th Div has 7 x 60 mm mortars, 8 rounds per mortar.

Armor:
The evening of 16 Aug 50 before he was captured, PW observed two (2) tanks. The type was unknown due to darkness. Tanks were parked and camouflaged with green branches (PW does not know whether they were self-propelled guns or tanks).

Vehicles:
Negative.

Supplies:
Food supplies were very poor since they were surrounded. One meal per day. Meal consisted of one rice ball or irish potatoes taken from the village.

Enemy Intentions:
PW does not know the objective or intention of the 7th Division. No further information.
