Inducted on 31 Aug 49 at HOERYONG in the 766th Ind Regt. Departed HOERYONG 15 Jun 50, arrived MUCH’ON 17 Jun 50. Departed MUCH’ON on 24 Jun 50 arrived YANGAYANG by rail, 766th Unit had approximately two battalions (1,000 men).
Departed YANGYANG (襄陽) on 15 wooden vessels on 24 (1900) Jun 50, landed 8 km SE of KANGNUNG (江陵) on 25 (0600K) Jun 50. On 28 Jun 50, 766th Unit, 3rd Bn advanced toward SAMCH’OK. 766th Unit 1st Bn and 2nd Bn left KANGNUNG 29 Jun 50, and passed through SAMCH’OK (三尺) 4 Jul 50. Arrived UTCHIN date unknown. 766th Unit arrived CH’ONGSONG, then went to TOPY’ONGDONG (道坪洞) (1198-1491). 1st Bn engaged in battle near TOPY’ONGDONG against ROK forces on 13 Aug 50 where it dispersed and went to POHYONSAN and advanced in the direction of POHANG-DONG.
On 15 Aug 50, PW became separated from his unit went into a village (unknown) and surrendered to ROK forces.

Subject observed on/about 14 Aug 50 approximately 200 guerrillas in POHYON-SAN (1180-1470). They were armed with Jap type 99 rifles and US sub-machine guns.
